I love how Blade Runner 2049 subverts the "chosen one" narrative. Crushing down the idea that greatness is hereditary. K is only set free once he stops seeing himself as this messianic figure. Another interesting aspect is that K has the qualities required to lead a resistance
but the actual messiah is not in any shape or form suitable to lead a revolution. Only her existence matters. Her being the messiah also crushes Wallace's dream of reproducing replicants to expand interstellar colonization. This is kind of poetic in a way.
