You buy a Jeep from someone. It& #39;s a nice Jeep and you really like it and enjoy driving it. You drive it carefully and obey all the laws.

Imagine this:
You buy a Jeep from someone. It& #39;s a nice Jeep and you really like it and enjoy driving it. You drive it carefully and obey all the laws.
Then one day, a man shows up at your house and says he is going to buy your Jeep back from you.
"Wait," you say, "how can you buy it back? I didn& #39;t buy it from you in the first place!" The man, noting your confusion, replies "I understand, but none the less,
"Wait," you say, "how can you buy it back? I didn& #39;t buy it from you in the first place!" The man, noting your confusion, replies "I understand, but none the less,
I am going to buy it back - but you will be compensated. Here is $500!" The man attempts to hand you a check and has a smile on his face. "Again," you try and explain, "you can& #39;t buy it back - YOU didn& #39;t sell it to me. Besides, I paid WAY more than $500!
And I don& #39;t even want to sell my Jeep!" The man sighs, and seems obviously annoyed that he has to explain further... "You see," he begins, "we recently had a situation where someone was drinking and then drove their car and caused a terrible accident - many people died!"
"That& #39;s horrible," you reply, "but I didn& #39;t do that, and he wasn& #39;t driving my car - that has nothing to do with me!" The man seems almost angry now "Listen, some of those people who died were children - don& #39;t you want to protect children?"
You are kind of shocked at how this conversation is going and try to interject "well of course I do, but -" the man interrupts you, almost as if he isn& #39;t listening and says "besides, the military uses Jeeps, I don& #39;t know why you need a military grade vehicle anyway!"
You are now truly stunned and dumbfounded as he hands you the check and takes your keys and drives off with your Jeep. Staring at the check, you realize that it came from your local homeowners association.
It then dawns on you that the money you were given came from the dues you paid to your HOA. You essentially gave the HOA money it used to "buy back" your car. You no longer have your car, you only have a small portion of what you paid for the car,
the money you have was yours in the first place, and the reason for all this was ludicrous at best.
Now, explain to me how a government buy back program for my rifle makes any sense....I& #39;ll wait.
