Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t say this stuff bc trans people are already saying it & clearly being ignored, whereas I will be listened to more simply for being cis, and that pisses me off, but at the same time NOT saying it surely = silence in the face of injustice, so:

I am very sick of scrolling through Romance Twitter only to see a cis woman espousing the “Dicks are evil bc I’m a feminist!” philosophy. It is boring, childish, limited, inaccurate, & most of all, harmful & offensive.

The patriarchy is not a giant penis. Women have penises. Penises are not sentient and they are not men. Why are you saying “Society only cares about dicks” when what you MEAN is “Society only cares about protecting the violent, racist, sexist, capitalist status quo”?

Which, by the way, you contribute to every time you demonise a body part. A major root of the misogyny you hate so much is biological gender essentialism. If someone said you were emotional bc you have a vagina you would laugh in their face. But penises have characteristics now?

You know, you MUST know, that trans people face physical violence, medical violence, professional discrimination, & more. You must know you as a cis woman are a powerful majority in Romancelandia. How are you fighting for equality by casually shitting on trans people? You aren’t

Trans women in particular are harmed by your casual anti-dick “jokes” or “activism”. The most vulnerable women who face the most misogynist violence. Did you want to add to that by othering them & legitimising transmisogynist bile? I don’t know, but here we are. You just did.

At this point, it’s not even a case of think before you tweet. It’s a case of WHY ARE YOU STILL HAVING THESE THOUGHTS? You have “feminist” in your bio, but you haven’t sat down with yourself & addressed the cissexist assumptions we were all raised with? WHY? NOT? Ask yourself.

And to be clear, I am not excusing myself from this convo. I’m not above these failures of empathy or imagination. I am not speaking from some sort of high horse. I am speaking from Sick of This Shit Avenue & hoping more cis people will join me there.
