The VP @ProfOsinbajo in his keynote mentions that if we shape our values discussions around economic development it will be most useful to us.
The end result is the creation of a happy society
1. The values discussion must engender national unity

2. Our value system must focus our minds on a shared vision.
3. Must be capable of showing us that a happy society is possible on account of this value system.

The condition predicate for both unity and peace is justice.
Primary criteria in our public institutions must be merit

Time and again questions about whether federal character is the dominant principle in appointment into Pub. Inst. Fed Charac. is just to ensure balance. The regions should still produce their very best. Meritocracy is crucial as a value in and of itself.

Rule of law is also at the heart of a good value system.
Where institutions for conflict resolutions are trusted, unity & stability are more likely. Especially with judicial inst. Judge appointment is crucial. If Judges aren't picked based on integrity etc, anything is possible

Inherent in integrity, precepts such as trustworthiness is essential for the attainment of socioeconomic prosperity.
Impt. to build a value system based on integrity. One where we can show that integrity pays.

Trust is not just a moral value. It is important in the success of any society (paraphrased)

Where we feel that we are part of a team its easy to be patriotic
People must feel that the govt has their back
People aren't patriotic cos they are asked to, but cos they feel govt works in their favour.
Practical steps to take
1. Teaching & exemplifying our values system

2. We have reintroduced history. Teaching it & history, deliberately is crucial. Being worked imon in the new curriculum being worked on
3. Rewarding these values. Society & govt shd reward these values. Natl honours must do so, & be based on merit. When kids see the honored, ...

...they can tie these winners of these honours to the values they are being taught.

Mrs Awosika of @FirstBankngr says if we cannot trust security due to corruption, then we have a problem. If the educational infrastructure cannot deliver what it needs to create the right human capital, then we have a challenge.
Its an all encompassing issue.

We have the capacity to rebuild, reset our children. Not just by saying it, but by what we do.
I hope we take effective critical actions which will be embedded in govt decisions and social policies.

The youth representative, @MimieLaushi says we need a unifying factor besides tribe and religion. The youth is the largest demographic in Nigeria.
Focus on how youth are on SM and involved in crime, the youths energy shd be harnessed.
Women are impt component too
