People should be entitled to express nasty emotions if they choose. It's called free speech. "I want X to die" is not threatening or inciting violence like "I will kill you" or "I urge someone else to kill you". Wanting someone to die isn't always a terrible emotion to express. Would it be so wrong to have wanted Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein dead? I don't think so. Many "good" people would argue that the world would be a better place, with many lives saved, without Assad, Putin or Xi.
