#Submarines is not like normal ships. Submarines can be death traps because they operate at depths that would kill an unprotected person. Submarines are an enclosed environment with nowhere to run if you have a fire onboard, you have to fight it to live. #thread
Lots of things can go wrong on a nuclear submarine that could endanger the crew and the boat itself. I could go over each one but that’s not the point here. The point is you need teamwork and sharing of information to keep everyone alive when stuff gets real.
On a submarine crew members have to depend on each other and work together because there isn’t a fire department to call, you are the fire department, your the damage control team fighting flooding. You are the guys who may have to sacrifice yourself in a nuclear accident.
One of the first things you learn on a submarine is to not be lost person on the totem who knows there is a problem. Meaning pass along information you have about what’s wrong so those in charge will have the big picture during a casualty so they can decide how to proceed.
Information flow, accurate up to date information, is critical to those in charge of damage control efforts or even battle stations for that matter. Information helps determine what resources and manpower should be allocated to fight the casualty and keep everyone alive.
One of the worst things you can do is assume that the information you have isn’t important so you don’t pass it along. Or you pass on the wrong information (that’s why we repeat back orders or information that is provided to prevent mistakes.) Information is life!
I would not want to serve on a submarine where I had to depend on anyone from the #TrumpAdministration. They lie and hold back information that is vital to handling the casualty, that would get people killed on a submarine, even if its routine maintenance.
Say you are fighting flooding in a compartment with a large switchboard that has enough current flowing through it to fry an elephant. One of the things you want to establish is if the switchboard is de-energized and isolated before you begin work. Water and electricity, deadly
Let’s say a person thinks the switchboard is de-energized but doesn’t verify but tells you it is? You will light up like a Christmas tree then, lights out permanently. Or maybe they say don’t worry about the switchboard because it’s nothing? Your dead again.
Or maybe the person in charge has no clue what is going on and decides to wing it ? @QueenWillRock has a song called “All Dead” and that’s what would be appropriate for this scenario. Ignorance, lack of knowledge (information), kills! Do you see what I’m getting at?
Let’s say the country is a submarine #USSUnitedStates with #Trump as the CO and his administration as his officers. Let say #COVID19 is a fire or flooding onboard. The down playing of COVID 19 and setting on the information means the damage control party doesn’t know what to do.
