My advice to people is never to join the military, even when the country doesn't have a proudly white nationalist Commander-in-Chief, even if it's for a POG MOS, even if the nation's not at war, even if it's just to be a weekend warrior

Like yes there are a lot of very good leftist/intersectional appeals to not in the military and I endorse them all! But I don't think any such appeal will scare someone so straight as the simple fact that a dark day WILL come, when everyone they know is a service member or vet

A day will come, when you are vulnerable, and broken, and in need of support, and *everyone* you can reach out to is a fucking hardass who takes pride in how much of a callous, pigheaded piece of shit they are.

Because those are your people. Those are the clan you've joined

And this world doesn't give you mulligans. Not really.

You can reject those people, yeah. But you can't exchange them for anyone else. The window will have closed.

You can have *these* fascist motherfuckers, or you can live a life of noble asceticism in the gutters of society.

I, obviously, have picked my side. I've chosen the august mien of abject gutter trash.

But, y'know, better not to have to. Better to look for the family with which you actually belong.

In the military, I promise you, you'll never, ever find it.
