To layman terms medical jargon
You usually wait 24-48hrs for clinical trial meds or therapy to kick in because if it’s working for most similar situations, it should be fine
However to swap not even a day into the 2nd most experimental possibility means the patient is escalating

VEKLURY® (remdesivir) is only given in emergencies; it’s side effects are awful, it’s an IV, it may not work if hydroxychloroquine was already given blah blah blah
Tldr a dr may administer it as a priority before briefing the loved ones in dire emergencies knowing it may not work

If nobody is lying, this might be the last day
It can kill him by
1. his poor physical state from his diet & age
2. his liver may fail from the sudden drug shift
3. any unknown reactions
In short, you don’t mess with this IV unless you must & if you survive, you are not okay

If you see talk of ALT that’s the enzyme called alanine transaminase that is released when the liver cells get damaged
Jaundice or yellowing of the eyes is a big sign- anyways it’s risky messing with 45 because diet wise, he is ALT high and the doctors shouldn’t be giving the IV

In terms of ventilation & oxygen, the IV is also tricky. If the patient already has a portable or needed to get a machine placed into them- they may have to double up because they could become more sensitive
If they didn’t, they may walk away needing either for the same reason

If somehow 45 walks away from the IV perfectly fine, he will be lying & will most likely use some form of oxygen or have serious health issues on top of the covid off camera.
What he chose to eat this whole time at DC and any exercise he had been doing off camera are is only hope

And I am saying this as an ex med student who is rebuilding muscle mass lost from the flu & muscle tear injury (back to back within 2 years) who is heavier but healthier than 45
If I had covid & the dr suggested VEKLURY® (remdesivir), I’d write my will right there
He is fucked

I honestly can’t see him walking away from this but we’ll have to wait and see
And if he does and lie about the aftermath of his health- he will kill thousands just from the misuse of the IV
