Govt has boasted that it is going to change the phase of Indian railways while introducing this train. But in reality I don't see much innovation here. MEMU and MMTS trains have always existed in India and can run without the aid of an engine.

They have simply taken that technology, designed ergonomic interiors, attached plastic domes infront to give it a look like bullet train. Do you know how much it costed to build this.? 100 crores.

Well fine. Atleast had it been useful to the public, we would accept it. But they introduced this train in DELHI-VARNASI sector where there are dozens of trains and also there's a flight connectivity. Why introduce this train again in such route.? The answer is publicity..

UP is very densly populated and for politicians, such a big state is a golden goose. So they wouldn't leave any oppurtunity to grab it. The hype they generated in UP while they introduced this train was unparalleled. They spent 100 crs on this train & 1.5 crs only to promote it.

They didn't leave any oppurtunity to promote this as a game changer. Twitter had gone crazy, filled with vande bhaarat express pics. From Ministry of railways to prime minister, everyone were promoting it. Bhakths elevated them in comments, trends what not.

All this for a single train.? That too with max speed limit of 180km. WAP-5 can run at 160 km and it was built in 1990s.
