My dad's surgery was successful and we all rejoiced. A few hours later, his airways were blocked and he was poorly suctioned. In Nigeria, if wrong diagnosis doesn't kill one, poor handling or lack of experience/equipment will. Nigeria is a death trap and we aren't talking enough.
He was looking forward to singing the national anthem at daybreak on October 1st but he didn't make it because the country he loved so much couldn't provide a suction machine in a teaching hospital. The doctors took every precaution but the Nigerian factor still showed up. SHAME!
The pain of losing someone who could be alive is excruciating. We spent money and time to keep him alive but a simple machine was absent to revive him. A whole teaching hospital. @RotimiAkeredolu fix up. The re-election is top of your agenda now but take a look at other things.
My dad was a strong man. He fought through visual impairment and diabetes for years. Then he fell and fractured his hipbone and now he's gone because @RotimiAkeredolu and members of his administration couldn't buy a suction machine. How much is that equipment? HOW FREAKING MUCH!
They say, don't ask for what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. My dad did a lot for this country. One of the best teachers, principals and administrators I've ever seen in my life. He moulded the lives of several people who are citizens of Nigeria.
What did Nigeria give him in return? An avoidable death? As a matter of principle, no politician should be allowed to seek medical attention abroad. Let's all be here either to live or to die. Dad was a wonderful father. Amidst our tears, a random joke of his would come up and 🤣
He was well above 70 but he wouldn't have died if @RotimiAkeredolu and the hospital management just had a suction machine. Dad and I always bantered. He was a natural savage and we, his children were his match. Gbos gbas every time T. We've lost a friend because of corruption.
I long to see a day when medical personnel will go on strike because they lack the necessary equipment to work. It's okay to agitate for salary increase and allowances but tweak the narration a bit. Don't you feel any emotions when patients die due to lack of equipment? AGITATE!!
When will Nigerians stand against politicians being flown abroad for medical care? Can we all remember how they were dying during the Covid restrictions? That should be the reality, not the exception. The next time a politician dies, my vocal wish will be that they rest in Hades.
We chose that hospital because his most available carer lived in Akure and we were sure he'd have access to specialists. Our mum, a nurse had told us about how many private hospitals don't have special doctors on standby. To be honest, the doctors tried but the system failed us.
Btw, the state of the Ado/Akure road is appalling. 2 state capitals and the road between them is this poor. I couldn't drive on it yesterday evening because I got tired of trying to manoeuvre around gullies. @RotimiAkeredolu and @kfayemi have you seen the road? Isn't it a SHAME?
