let’s talk about gossip girl.
now, i’ve had the rest of this thread waiting a while to exist i’ve only now decided to release it because of the whole switch on the averno gossip girl blog. i personally think that it’s a mystery we’re supposed to try to solve and it goes with the main idea of the thread so yea
also probably won’t post this on instagram for a *while* so enjoy this avernostan sneak peak ;)
i’ve been waiting to do this one for a while now since i wanted to see where that whole thing went, but i think this is as good as any time.
for those who don’t know, the averno gossip girl is a tumblr blog (@/avernoconfessions) that specializes in receiving asks from the community and making averno even more immersive, signing off with that iconic ‘xoxo, averno gossip girl.’
and that whole thing about immersion is just a guess from me, but i’d say a pretty accurate one. why? let’s look at the end of camp.
camp averno was full of immersion into the world. we had our camp anthem, our camp social medias, as well as camp averno inside jokes like the solis and noctis kidnappings and terra’a dirt. camp averno was the perfect averno event for the summer,
hyping up willow, over and out, and bittersummer, while also throwing is really into the world of averno for the first time. but it ended, and we saw a shift in the community, especially the discord. inactivity. i believe that this was because when camp ended, we were
forced to go back to the real world. but then, august 27th hype began, the street team was formed, and the day before school was announced, gossip girl popped up. i personally believe the gossip girl page was meant to be a joke at first,
but obviously now, it’s a lot more than that. it’s pretty clear why. the gossip girl became iconic in the community because they are a blank slate and an opportunity for our imaginations to free roam averno. it’s all about the immersion.
hopefully gossip girl can be a way for us as a community to keep telling our story of being in averno and a new school. not to mention, that bright orange hat sounds kinda cool.
