Only encourage them to do more because their self-esteem/self-worth will decrease. You have to explain to them in a reasonable manner as to why it's wrong or they simply won't stop and continue on with the habit. And yes, while it's understandable to be angry at -
the person because it's triggering and should be posted on private or not at all, it's not right to speak to someone in a aggressive manner if they self-harm frequently, because who knows how badly that'll affect their mental state.
