For Day 3 of #CLOYtober, something a little different. Throughout CLOY, we see many times that Ri Jeong-hyeok is Seri's candle, her light in the darkness. A thread of #candles in CLOY:
Episode 2: There's a power outage in NK. We see families all finding sources of light together: candles, lamps, secret batteries. But Seri has no one. She's alone and afraid in the dark, until RJH brings her a candle. It's symbolic of hope and comfort.
Episode 4: The scented candle scene. This one explains itself. When Se-ri is drowning in memories of her past abandonment, RJH comes and finds her with a candle. He gives her a way out of the darkness.
Episode 6: Pyongyang. Just before the first snowfall, the light goes out and the waiters bring candles. Seri and RJH both know that they care for each other, but they can't say it. The candle is a symbol of their longing, and also our hope that everything will be OK.
It's a while before we see candles again (we see a lot of fire, but that's another day).

Episode 12: Seri's birthday (part 1).
"Ever since that day, there's a chilling night sea in my heart. And the sun never shines on that sea." - Seri to her mother.
Episode 12: Se-ri's abandonment issues are linked with a loss of light. When she thinks she's been abandoned by RJH, her apartment is completely dark. She doesn't have her candle - him.
Episode 13: But RJH is there! He reminds her that every year, he will be happy that she's still alive. His love for her brings light to the dark sea in her heart.

And then, not just one candle, but many! For all the people in her life who care about her, RJH and the ducklings.
Episode 16: The scholarship dinner. The tables and the entire room are lit with candles! And Riri are reunited again😭No insights for this one, just tears at the perfection of this drama.
