How to avoid scams 101
(Made by a former SUCCESSFUL scammer.)
don’t trust ‘proofs’ that aren’t linked to a tweet. Many websites like http://tweetgen.com  makes fake proofs.
Check the proof dates. If the account joined in June, and the ‘proof’ was made in feb you know it’s fake.
Ask for proof of the items. Even though many scammers do have the items they are scamming, it’s still an easy way to weed out the beginner scammers. It’s at least one safe wall. Make sure the ‘proof’ of the item has to have their user.
Make sure to reverse image search their ‘proof’ image on google, safari, etc. make sure it’s their image, not someone else’s. Do this even if they have the name in the picture, because text CAN be edited.
Next, search them up on twitter. If they have ANY SCAM HISTORY, do not continue trading with them.
Ask for their roblox user, then search it up on twitter. Scammers can create different twitter accs, but they will have the same user.
Reminder, people can change roblox users. Make sure to check their profile, if they have changed users there will be a clock button. Press it and see their past users.
Many use ALTS to scam so they can save their main. If the roblox avatar doesn’t have robux/ small amounts of friends + followers, small place visits, very recent join date, I would advise not continuing on with the trade.
Guilt tripping is another tactic scammers use, (one I used a lot when I was a scammer.) If they say they were recently scammed, ask them for the @ of the person who scammed them + chat logs + the scammer’s roblox user.
Even if they do manage to provide that info about ‘the scammer’ check to see if the chat logs are very recent (like after you asked them to show chat logs.) people can switch back and forth on accounts to ‘talk’ to each other.
Some scammers scam by the middleman tactic. If they suggest a MM, do the same background check as above on the mm. It could just be their scammer friend being an ‘mm’. Don’t just auto trust someone if they suggest an ‘mm’, make sure the mm is trusted.
If there is no scam history on twitter, DONT BE AFRAID to check other social media platforms for their history. I SUGGEST: YouTube, Instagram, tiktok, Facebook, Snapchat.
Even if the ‘proofs’ have a link to the tweet, check the person tweeting the proof for the person you are trading with. An easy way to tell that the proofer is an alt is if that’s the only tweet they make + they like/rt/follow the person you are about to trade with.
For a more checks on the person, feel free to dm me their @ and I will PERSONALLY check them. I will be adding more tomorrow when I remember more tactics I used to scam. Have a great day, stay safe.
Here’s some more tips! Don’t be fooled even if they have 100+ proofs! A huge tactic of scammers is to do small trades, for example 1k diamonds for 1 robux. It’s worth it for scammers if they do one hundred of these trades to end up scamming a hal 19! Don’t trust small trades!!
Make sure to check for hidden replies on their proof thread! Also, if their proof thread has comments turned off, it’s very suspicious. While I’m not saying all who does that are scammers, why turn the comments off if you have nothing to en afraid of?
