From 2011 to 2015 Charlton Athletic had:

Nick Pope
Joe Gomez
Ezri Konsa
Karlan Grant
Ademola Lookman.

They sold them for a combined 16.5mil.

I'd be surprised if you could buy the 5 of them right now for less than 10x that figure.
Lookman and Konsa have moved again since leaving for a combined 35mil.

Konsa's value will have gone way up since joining Villa. Easily a 35mil CB now IMO.

Lookman's probably a 15mil player right now

HTFC want 18mil for Grant.

Pope? Prob 45mil

Gomez? 60mil without doubt.
That's a roughly estimated 173mil for those 5.

Charlton had them all at the club for years.

They never played a game together.

Lookman, Grant, Gomez and Konsa all played in the academy together. All 1997 births.

Lookman and Konsa didn't make the first team til after Joe left
It's hard not to look at everything Charlton have been through and wonder what might have been. That club, and their fans, have been through the shit for the past 6 years.

The ownership of Roland Duchatelet almost ruined the club. Would recommend @GTKTheNetwork by @JimmyStone_.
It's a 4 part podcast series that was released a few years back. Listened to it at the time, have just finished listening to it again given they've just been sold again. It's truly brilliant. Well researched, well presented.

Running length is about 3 - 3.5 hours in total.
When I hear high profile ex-pros cry about a handball rule "ruining the game" and see morons on here tweet that "the game's gone", I look at Bury, Macclesfield, Bolton, Wigan, Coventry and Charlton and wonder what the they're talking about.

Scumbag owners are ruining the game.
People seem to think it's only "small clubs" who have these major financial issues.

Charlton spent 8 yrs in the PL.

Coventry spent 9 yrs in the PL.

Bolton spent 13 yrs in the PL.

Wigan spent 8 yrs in the PL.

Barring the big 6 and a handful of others, could happen to anyone.
