I work not to hate or wish death on people because that’s a slippery slope I don’t trust myself on (you do you, though!) but here’s what I can definitively say I hate:
200,000+ dead
Long haulers suffering
Grieving families and friends left behind
Social fabrics in tatters

I hate
that people can’t get the health care that they need
that a lot of people don’t believe Black people feel pain
that a lot of people don’t believe Black pain matters
that borders and capitalism mean unethical, racist colonial hoarding

that a lot of people don’t believe Black people feel pain
that a lot of people don’t believe Black pain matters

I hate
that dental care isn’t considered to be essential medical care
that the minimum wage isn’t a living wage
that Republican State legislators have gutted voting rights and liberals have twiddled their stock market thumbs while it happened

So many people are dead that should be alive because of inequities in this country that have their roots in slavery, colonialism, imperialism, and racial capitalism, far far more than 200,000
I hate our conditions
And I have a lot of gratitude to the freedom fighters who have given their lives to keep them from getting worse and to work toward making them better.
But 200,000 dead in just 6 months. Wow. How dare they.
