You cannot parent all of your children exactly the same and expect to get the same results unless they are the same exact children, and even then...
You will need to learn multiple ways to respond to a situation, and you need to account for your child’s nature and temperament. Great parenting is not haphazard, and it’s not “great” just bc you and your siblings didn’t grow up and become serial killers.
Have you ever listened to the way adult children describe their parents’ style? More often than not, the “good” children have a very different view of the parent than the “bad” children.
There’s an irony to parents demanding personalized education from their children’s teachers while providing standardized parenting at home. One day, we should talk about the ways parents expect more from educators than they’re willing to do themselves. 🙂😉
