My rather eventful, but also mostly good Friday and why: (a thread)
OK. So I mentioned the other day that I was getting a new TV for my bedroom & it was coming today between 7-10am. Getting this very thing set up is kinda what's taken up a good chunk of my day, LOL! 😃🤣
It came today at around 8am & I was thankfully up and dressed by this point, even though I was still a bit tired from not having such a great day yesterday from having to deal with my mum yelling at me/feeling lonely. But the events of today more than made up for that. 🙂
My mum's boyfriend helped with getting the TV up to my bedroom, but me and my mum basically did the setting up, which consisted of plugging in my Blu-ray player & Nintendo Switch & connecting the TV to the Internet. 🙂🤣
Much to my annoyance,my mum was putting the Wi-Fi passcode in way too slowly for my liking & intially the TV wouldn't connect to our Wi-Fi. 🙄 Thankfully, upon me inputting it again (at a much quicker rate) it did work, but it was frustrating that it didn't connect first time. 😑
Upon getting the TV set up, the next thing I did was turn on the subtitles (I always like to have them on when I watch the TV) & checked the TV for updates to see if had any needing to be installed. It didn't, so at this point, the software on it is fully up to date. 🙂
Aside from the minor gripe with connecting the TV to the Wi-Fi, setting it up went OK. But we soon ran into another problem, we couldn't get my Panasonic sound bar to work with the new TV. I don't know why, as we were able to plug it in, but upon doing so, there was no sound. 🙄
I have no idea why this was the case, as this soundbar worked perfectly fine with my old TV. 🙄 At first, I wondered if it was linked to the remote control with this soundbar having a flat battery, so I decided I'd get a new battery for it upon going out with my carer today. 🙂🤣
This soundbar also had Bluetooth, but we couldn't get that to work either, much to my annoyance. So we just left the sound output as coming from the TV speaker at this point, as I didn't exactly want a TV with no sound coming through upon turning it on. 🤣
I hadn't done anything I wanted to do with my TV as there were still some apps I wanted to install + I had to sign in for some of the ones I had accounts for in order to use them, but as I knew at this point that my carer would be coming soon, I decided to do this stuff later. 🙂
Some of you may have seen from my earlier tweets, but me and my mum did Popmaster at around the half 10 mark & then half an hour later, my carer turned up. She had a chat with my mum/me for a bit & then my mum ordered me to look for the instruction manual for my old TV. 🙂🤣
The reason for this was because my mum had put my old TV on FB for any of her friends to take away & one of her friends happened to be interested in it & was coming to take it later. Thankfully finding it wasn't too hard to find, as it was in a folder with many other manuals. 🙂
After that, me and my carer tidied up my bedroom some more & then we went out for a bit. My initial plan had been to visit B&M (in order to get a replacement battery for my Panasonic soundbar) & also to have McDonald's for lunch, both of which are at a retail park not far from me.
Unfortunately, this plan didn't quite work out, as there's a lot of road works getting done around this area & they went right into the pavement too, much to me & my carers' annoyance. 🙄 As a result, there was no easy access to this retail park. 😢
Instead, we took a bus to the town centre & still did what we had planned originally, just elsewhere. We both enjoyed our lunch at McDonalds & I really needed it at this point, seeing as I hadn't really had anything to eat by this point (it was nearly 1pm!) 😱🙄
Once we were both fed and watered, we then went to Poundland to look for a replacement battery for this Panasonic soundbar that I couldn't get to work with my new TV. This was a pain in the neck, seeing as it takes an annoying button cell one, which is the sort of battery I hate.
Thankfully I'd taken a photo of inside the instruction manual for this appliance so I knew what type of button cell battery it took, but I couldn't just buy the one type I wanted, you could only get a multipack with lots of different ones. One reason why I hate these batteries. 😑
Of course, I did buy it as I knew these spares for other types may come in handy at somepoint. I wasn't really in the mood to go shopping anywhere else though, so we just walked it back home, which seemed like the wise thing to do upon getting a bus to the town centre. 🙂
For the last hour or so, me and my carer sat up in my bedroom & I then decided to use this time to install any apps onto my TV I hadn't yet done so yet, namely Apple Music & Disney Plus. I also had a look at the app store upon finally finding it,which I struggled to do initially.
Next, I had to do A LOT of signing in for various apps I knew I'd use. Those being for Apple TV/Music, Disney Plus, ITV Hub, BBC iPlayer, YT & Prime Video to name some. Thankfully this was mostly quite easy, as I could use my phone to scan a code to do so for most of these apps.
Once I'd done a good chunk of app setting up, we then had another brief chat with my mum for the last half hour (my carer usually leaves at 4pm on a Friday.) At the same time my carer left though, my mum was also going out, in order to get a new printer for the living room. 🙂
At this point I was glad to finally have some time to myself, which I used to message the person I was meant to see in Edinburgh tomorrow on FB. This took a while, due to having quite a bit to say & I'd only just managed to finish it off before my mum was back with the new printer.
Like with my new TV, my mum's boyfriend also helped her set it up, so she wasn't too stressed this time, thank goodness. 🙂 Unfortunately, upon replacing the battery for my Panasonic soundbar remote, I still couldn't get it to work with my new TV. 🙄
I informed my mum this & upon doing so she said we'd see about getting a Samsung soundbar that matches my TV (it's also Samsung) So we had a look at Argos & we found one that was £200, had a built in subwoofer & lots of 5 star reviews, which we decided to pick up tonight. 🙂
The stock was showing as limited on the website, but we found that we could pick it up at the Glasgow Fort branch (which was open until 10pm) - which is exactly what we did after having steak pie, chips and veg for dinner, LOL! 😃🤣👍
Due to my mum still being fatigued from being stressed with the issues regarding her old printer she had yesterday, her boyfriend drove us both to Glasgow Fort - in order to pick up not only this soundbar, but also an HDMI cable in order to connect it to the TV at Argos. 🙂🤣
The reason for buying an HDMI cable is because there wasn't one included in the box with this sound bar. But as it wasn't too expensive, that wasn't really much of an issue. And because we'd ordered both things before arriving at Argos,we were only really there to pick them up. 😃
I think the journey there and back took around half an hour each way, but considering how little time we were waiting to pick up these items, that helped a lot. 🙂 It was nice to get out too, even though it was basically pitch black outside by the time we were heading home again.
Upon getting back home, my mum's boyfriend helped set up my new Samsung soundbar & I'm glad to say connecting this one was not only fairly easy, but it's also working with my new TV perfectly & sounds great. 😃👍
I have no idea why my old Panasonic soundbar didn't seem to work with my new TV,but oh well. At least I have a new one that's working fine now. I'm also glad to say that the remote control for this new soundbar doesn't take button cell batteries either (instead it takes 2 AAA's.)
After having a fully set up new TV, I watched some YouTube videos on it & then also took some photos of my latest addition to my bedroom, which I'll share separately from this thread fairly soon. 😃👍 I'll be using it a good bit this weekend, that's for sure. 😃👍
So yeah. That's basically been my pretty busy, but also mostly good Friday for you. I know I've said a lot here, but I basically wanted to cover almost everything that's happened in not exactly a nutshell, LOL! 😃🤣 Oh & in case you're wondering,my new TV has a 43 inch screen. 🙂
