Today, I told my students "Here& #39;s how I& #39;m going to grade your tests: I look at it, tell you what to fix, you fix it, and I& #39;ll give you an A. We& #39;re in a pandemic. Life is stressful as it is, and my goal isn& #39;t to stress you out even more."
Students were so grateful to hear this. If you ever have the option to make things less stressful for students, do it.
Just FYI since I& #39;m getting a lot of comments about it: I& #39;ve been doing revisions since Year 1 and I& #39;m planning on continuing this philosophy after the pandemic is over. I just mentioned the pandemic to emphasize how much more stressful life is now, not as the sole reason for this
And even if I didn& #39;t do revisions starting year 1, we shouldn& #39;t be putting down teachers who are becoming the teacher they want to be. We& #39;re all in a journey in being happy with how we teach.
