Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 1/20

Ok. Now looks likely that Trump has Covid-19. My first instinct was to consider it a convenient political ploy.

As there is a genuine outbreak centered around White House/Rose Garden, seems legitimate. Let's do a quick analysis thread
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 2/20

Trump gets no thoughts & prayers from me. He knew of Covid in February. Could have stopped over 150,000 Americans from dying. He didn't. His Post Office was ready to ship 5 Covid masks to every home. He stopped that. He is a mass murderer
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 3/20

Instead, Trump argued AGAINST Masks (asshole!) and held Super-Spreader events including Tulsa - where Trump campaign staffers REMOVED SOCIAL DISTANCING stickers from seats. Trump caused his friend Herman Cain's death from that event
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 4/20

And Trump held Super-Spreader events regularly - against local government regulations on health & safety. Trump is a mass murderer.

He even PROFITS from the suffering by pushing Hydroxychloroquine: he owns stock in company that makes it
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 5/20

208,000 Americans have died. Many of those died ALONE, their families could not even be by their side at the end.

Trump caused MASSIVE suffering. 70 times more suffering than the deaths from than Sept 11 World Trade Center terrorism.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 6/20

So I am not praying for Trump. I am praying for those families who lost loved ones. 208,000 deaths, most were preventable, if Trump had behaved in a sane way, and listened to Dr Fauci & the doctors. Masks alone would have saved half
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 7/20

I do wish Trump has a full recovery, because I want him to live a long long life, behind bars, convicted for the dozens of crimes he's committed while in White House and before. So I do hope Trump recovers. BUT... it need not be quick
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 8/20

What do we know of Covid-19? Most who get infected, show no symptoms. Most who show symptoms, have it as a mild infection. Some have severe symptoms including hallucinations. And some go into hospital like UK PM Boris Johnson. etc.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 9/20

There are reports that Trump has mild symptoms (so far). But was only tested positive yesterday. We have no way of knowing what his reality is. Countries do not want to admit bad health problems if their leaders are severely out of action
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 10/20

It is LIKELY if Trump has already shown symptoms, that they will get worse, before they get better. And if he recovers in a couple of weeks, he is going to be WEAK for weeks after that.

Almost like God or Karma is telling us something
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 11/20

Trump desperately wanted his rallies. He won't be able to do those now (for two weeks). Even after that, he's likely weak, won't be able to do a lot of them.

PERHAPS the insane GOP wakes up to MASKS after this series of infections.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 12/20

Trump was behind. He had run out of time to turn the election around by conventional means. Besids, his campaign is so broke, he can't afford the TV ads to accomplish that. A 'Hail Mary Pass' is his only hope. This is not that.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 13/20

Trump may WELL see a groundswell of support now, these 2 weeks as he's ill. He will not want to appear ill. He MAY see some GOP voters 'coming home' to support him.

But the illusion that Covid is a hoax, is now utterly totally busted.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 14/20

There will be a new slew of REPUBLICAN politicians who catch Covid. Most trace to Trump's Super Spreader events. That deteriorates the anti-masker movement - and builds FEAR into older GOP voters. ESPECIALLY leading to election day
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 15/20

Because Trump had been running his lunatic campaign against voting by mail - there will be many esp older GOP voters - who won't vote. Trump will have succeeded in suppressing HIS OWN VOTE, meaning down-ticket GOP candidates will lose
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 16/20

The last 5 weeks should be political messaging of a great 'economic recovery' etc to try to build SOME Republican coherent message.

Instead, now the GOP has to FIGHT INTERNALLY on Covid messaging like masks, events - while POTUS is out
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 17/20

Trump will be 'blaming' this virus for 'robbing' him of his re-election. Let him cry. The moment Trump is no longer POTUS, he will be handcuffed & thrown into NY prison, for dozens of NY state crimes that Pence cannot pardon him.
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 18/20

We saw in the Trump taxes, that he owes $1.1 Billion dollars today, and his businesses generated $45 million in losses BEFORE Coronavirus devastated the travel industry. Trump isn't concerned about winning. He needs cash. So Parscale
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 19/20

So Parscale... remember, Trump has stolen $170 million from his own re-election campaign. Trump is DESPERATE to have his supporters SEND HIM MONEY - not that Trump can buy TV ads, but that Trump can pay his due INTEREST on his debts
Trump Covid Political Impact Thread 20/20

Polling may be wild in coming weeks. I believe this is a net negative for Trump and makes it essentially impossible for him to win - as long as Team Blue shows up to vote of course. But this is CATASTROPHIC for Mitch & GOP for Senate etc
