Today is not only #WrongfulConvictionDay, but it also marks the two year anniversary of the reversal of Horace Roberts& #39; conviction. Horace spent more than 20 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. He walked out the next day (see below), 10/3/2018. https://twitter.com/MSemanchik/status/1312051198858465280">https://twitter.com/MSemanchi...
Some 12 days later, Horace received a factual finding of innocence as all charges were dropped. At the same time, the two true perps were arrested and are pending trial.

While we ultimately got to the right result, Horace lost some of the best years of his life. He didn& #39;t get to watch his three kids grow up. He didn& #39;t get to see his mother before she passed away.

It& #39;s important to study these cases to avoid future miscarriages of justice. The police in Horace& #39;s case developed tunnel vision early on. They rejected the notion the victim& #39;s husband could be the true perp, despite being the last to see her alive.

The prosecution ultimately came around to the idea of his innocence, but not before spending more than a decade fighting us on DNA testing and other avenues of investigation.
