i tend to be super open about personal stuff on twitter but there's a thing i've been holding off on openly talking about the past couple of months while in crisis mode (this won't be news to people who have paid attention to name/bio changes or my many many vaguetweets)
essentially, the entity most of you know as emily is actually a plural system consisting of somewhere between 8 and 13 alters which emily is one of. we became aware of this back in spring but it's been the case as long as we can remember.
it's cool if this makes no sense to you btw, and you're welcome to ask questions! we knew next to nothing about plurality before earlier this year when we had to learn a lot very quickly to support @system_dice after they opened up about their plurality
while i really don't want to equate the two i would ask sceptical people who don't know anything about DID/OSDD/plurality in general to do their best to unpick any "this is weird/not real instincts" in the same way they had to do when learning about transness for the first time
not sure about written resources ( #pluralgang feel free to help out here!) but there are a lot of very good educational resources by systems on YouTube, with @TheRingsSystem in particular having been an incredible help to us https://twitter.com/unitled/status/1312101257855684608?s=19
if we've spent any meaningful amount of time together you've almost certainly met at least a couple of us. there tends to be a few of us near the front at any given time, and a lot of us have enough overlap in demeanor that we can decently mask as one person most of the time
we'll continue this thread at some point later but just wanted to get the headline out of the way because it would be cool to slightly lower the number of social situations where people assume emily by default. thank you so much for reading this

-emily (mostly, it's complicated)
