Unfortunately I haven’t read the manga so this will be anime-only (I heard Stone Ocean slaps!). There’s enough in the anime to fill an entire DISSERTATION, let alone a twitter thread so let’s go

Also; if you didn’t see this coming from the poll alone, you do not know me well

Throwback to the day I realized this anime did whatever it wanted in the most entertaining way, while still having lovable characters and plot twists that *are* logical according to the rules of the worldbuilding

Every season focuses on a different member of the Joestar family and it is scientifically proven that they are ALL spectacular. Not only are all the Joestars unique, each season has its own theme and vibe (“gay mafia found family” is my favorite season, but I digress)

The tone also has the perfect blend of heartbreak and humor—two of my favorite things. This show is VERY liberal about killing off major characters (and making sure your heart breaks into thousands of pieces) in a way that’s so beautiful, I have to stan

At the same time, it’s incredibly heartfelt and a genuinely fun watch. Ofc there are times when I don’t know what the hell is going on and they talk too much but IMO that adds to the charm

Also you literally never know what you’re going to get in an episode. They fought a baby, an evil rat, a falcon, ANOTHER BABY, a vampire (that one’s Dio), a serial killer—and one time it suddenly turned into Bon Apetite

Also there are literally SO MANY CHARACTERS TO LOVE??? Some of my top faves include Wait That’s Your Mom, Definitely A Scorpio, Himbo, and...just...everyone in Vento Aureo

Ofc the show isn’t perfect (the way it treats women is absolutely deplorable) and I will readily admit that. But, like most problematic and lovable media, YMMV. I just wanted to make sure I mentioned it!

Anyway, in conclusion, I’m not telling you to go watch it because it is a VERY strange show, but—to be fair—Araki put his FOOT in this series + it shows! It’s v unique + there’s a reason why people enjoy it

Also the first few seasons are on Netflix. Do with that what you wish
