Mehdi Hasan is an interesting case study. He went from 10 years supporting Wikileaks and appearing with Assange at events to denouncing him to ignoring his show trial. That and he threw himself into backing the Libya and Syria wars. Result - Promoted relentlessly.

This is how the left media actors get promotions. By using what credibility they gather in the early part of their careers to launder the talking points of the ruling class in a way that will appeal to their leftist audience. Hasan is a case in point but there's others.

Owen Jones (remember him) started off his political life in the International Marxist Tendency (Trots) and then got his star turn in the guardian and kept it by denouncing communism, supporting Israel, supporting the anti Corbyn plots etc.

Lets go more radical. Novara Media (literally communists) start off talking a whole lot of mush about "autonomism" and as their fame increases Bastani ends up opposing Brexit (having backed it first) waffling on the anti-semitism smears and pandering to every Labour centrist.

This is how "alternative" media replicates the structures of the major capitalist media networks. Because the people who make up far too much of it are chasing money and reputations that only those in power can give them.

I was always aware of this but watching the desperate pandering of many media actors on this site in real time is a great education.
