People used to blindly believe in religion, and have a habitual aversion to science.

Now they blindly believe in science, and have a habitual aversion to religion.

I have a habitual aversion to people that have a habitual aversion to either.

Keep an open, critical mind.
Religion is top-down, science is bottom-up.

Religion is rhetorical, science is dialectic.

Science is necessary for technological innovation.

Religion is necessary for inspiring art, ethics, sensible mating practices etc.

They're not even interchangeable, both are necessary.
Science is what pushes a society forward, religion is what holds a society together.

They are not dichotomous, because they don't serve the same functions at the civilizational level.

As long as one does not impede the other, they are harmonious net positive institutions.
