Here’s why ‘The Apology’ is problematic:

It starts off, even though satirical, with a very romanticised notion of women when they says “I’m not a woman but I wish i were”. No, you don’t wish you were a woman, there are better ways. To joke about women being “sexy” is problematic
because that will also cause the viewers to feel it’s okay to say the same.

Who are these people? Why are they apologising for men’s actions? And what is “they”? Who gave these man a clean chit first of all? Do they not have a history, i’m pretty sure none of these men are the
cleanest of the men. They fact that they keep referring to the men as “they” is a very weird thing i felt. It is targeting a certain community of people, the lower class. Just the fact that they showcase a not so powerful guy on the street going “ganne ka juice” covers up for the
upper class/caste men who harass at work places. The presentation plays a huge role. In my opinion it should’ve been “we” rather than “them”.
Then they refer to saudi arabian women as “those women”. Nahi bhai, they don’t, they don’t have the right speak against the system.
I am no expert but I know a little about the situation there.

What are these suggestions they’re giving? We don’t wanna know ki okay workplace harassment mein i should staple his cv to his pants or wtv. I want that behaviour to stop? And OH GOD CHANGE HIS SEX AND THAT SHOULD
TEACH HIM A LESSON???? That’s plan ass transphobic okay.
“If a man rapes you” that shouldn’t even be an if, no man can touch me without my consent, what are you saying you’ll bring in the goddesses like haan almost every house has lakshmi’s idol and footsteps and yet women get
raped in the house. So please. Tell me I am not a piece of walking vagina that men can rape if they felt like instead of saying “if a man rapes you”
Do they really thing rape is such a simple issue that i am not gonna be traumatised, if not dead, afterwards for them to say that
I take his dick and chop it off or whatever?

They whole video talks over the issues women go through, to have a woman dressed up as a goddess oof! Again, very targeted hindu audience yaar!
“you deserve to be somewhere safer” “i promise to stand up for you” arey yaar stand up with me i’ll appreciate, not for me. That’s the saviour complex men have. Like we need saving, like we’re this small naazuk little beings who can’t stand up for themselves and needed them to
just apologise and yaa now i’m all good after listening to four men tell me what i should do if i get raped.
The anger in their voice doesn’t make me feel better. If make me feel like that’s all they have. Anger. a body FULL of testosterone.
You’re gonna tell me i should stay because this is my home? “you shouldn’t move” “this is your home” like i have an option to. Yes i shouldn’t have had to worry about going out but look how fucked the system is that MOST rapists don’t get punished for their acts.
I didn’t need four random privileged cis men on my screen to tell me that it’s okay to wear, talk and do whatever tf i wanna.
Thank you for listening :)
