i’ve seen a lot of ppl doing this and i want to warn you: try not to sell fanmade merch of sanrio characters, especially hello kitty!! sanrio’s very known for not tolerating it and will make you stop if they catch you. they’re known for not being very good with that sort of thing

this is why you won’t see at cons, artists selling merch of sanrio characters.
some companies don’t care but sanrio does care.
i just don’t want to see anyone getting in trouble!

it’s already been that artists who make fanart of hello kitty and sell it especially at conventions will get cease and desist letters from sanrio

making fanart and posting it online for free is of course fine and okay, but making stuff and selling it will get you in trouble with sanrio and i don’t want my fellow artists to be in trouble! this is why i don’t make sanrio merch while i love sanrio characters.

it’s like a code in artist alley that you don’t sell fanart of sanrio characters bc if they find out it’s not good.

nintendo’s pretty good about that unless you’re selling in-game items for real money or fanmade amiibos, but don’t think bc nintendo is flexible and welcomes fanart that it means all companies do. so pls be careful when it comes to sanrio!
