A lot is going on in 2020’s America.

But for Black women right now, we are out here trying to live in the fullness of our humanity, a humanity too often demeaned and denied. We live unprotected lives y’all, yet we still show up.

I wrote this to us. https://www.thenation.com/article/society/black-women-racism-sexism/
Shout out to the Combahee River Collective @mclemoremr @BreeNewsome @es_snipes @RRHDr @Isabelwilkerson Patricia Okoumou Dawn Wooten Ieshia Evans @sandylocks and Andrea Ritchie whose work and lives are testaments to the bold brilliance of Black women and are linked in this piece.
Shout out to @tressiemcphd who I attempted to link in the piece (the editors cut it) who speaks our thoughts and honors our lives so clearly and powerfully. I read your latest and weeped. And when I say “dreams” in this piece, I’m talking about this: https://medium.com/@tressiemcphd/post-it-dreams-9d12095a7342
Shout out to @MHarrisPerry who stood up on cable news and spoke our stories like the reflection of US politics that they are. Big love to @ProfessorCrunk @MsPackyetti @rgay @KeeangaYamahtta @MoniqueWMorris @DorothyERoberts. Your writing and your words lift me and all of us.
All hail @ToniMorrison @DrMayaAngelou bell hooks and Audre Lorde who built worlds and theories and movements around us. There aren’t enough words to honor the light y’all cast that Black women like me work underneath. You illuminate and warm us in what can be a dark, cold world.
Shout out to @nhannahjones whose critical work has helped the nation grapple with its ugly origins and yet has to suffer fools on the daily who attempt to undermine her contributions and press her like she ain’t Pulitzer-worthy. You lift us sis.
And shout out to my Ma, my Granny, my Big Momma, my sister, and my aunties who are the first Black women who loved me. And who gave selflessly of themselves to everyone around them. Generations have been nurtured because of these womens love. 💛
There are so many Black women who have inspired me and/or made space for me like @zoe @Arrianna_Planey @meganfrancis @LeahRigueur @elizabhinton @itsafronomics @DrIvorHorn @ruha9 @RJEpiOBWarrior @doccrearperry @TeressaLRaiford I hope you feel my deep love and admiration.
