As part of a family that lost a loved one unnecessarily - one of 112,540 such families, as of 9/15 - I feel no schadenfreude or anything other than fury. Of *course* he got it. Of *course* the White House is a hot zone. It was inevitable. Their selifishness & stupidity killed...1

...so many. Pence wandered around in hospital refusing to wear a mask. Trump's entourage at the debate sneered, broke the rules, refusing to wear masks at Cleveland Clinic, this endless belief on their part that the rules dont apply to them. They were shoving people together...2

...for his rallies, saying "they have free choice, if they want to risk it, that's their choice." Well, Trump and his staff wanted to risk it, wanted to set an example for the world of reckless irresponsibility. They made that choice, and these are the inevitable consequences...3

...we are a stupid nation that lives on anecdote. Already, psychopaths like @kilmeade on Fox are saying "if Trump gets better, whatever the charts and graphs say, isn't that a good example that even the elderly can get it and be fine?" If I in any way believed that Trump...4

...would get well, come out and say, "I have experienced this disease. Please learn my lesson. It doesnt matter who you are or how safe you think you are. It can infect you, and it is bad. So please protect yourself" - then I would be wishing him a speedy recovery. But that...5

...wont happen. If he is asymptomatic and gets better, he will start crowing "no worse than the flu!" and Fox will go full Mussolini - "See? A strong man can beat it!" We will have an explosion of disease. So, as horrible as it is, while I hope he survives, I can't wish him...6

...a speedy recovery because he & Fox will use that to spread more dangerous, ignorant propaganda, killing untold 1000s more, overruling science with anecdote. If Trump gets very sick following his *choice* to be reckless, many lives will be saved. So, I hope he survives, but...7

...the country needs to have a prominent anecdote showing the consequence of recklessness, showing that your politics dont make you immune, showing that this is not about being tough or strong, but being safe and wise.

But the White House is a hot zone. They chose that.
