Since when does being left mean you won& #39;t wish death on your enemies? Marx said morality is a manifestation of our social, historical & political context. Rousseau said when the people have nothing more to eat, they& #39;ll "eat the rich". It& #39;s not a joke, it& #39;s a warning.
Holding people up to a certain set of moralities that are impossible to meet is a conservative ideology, to keep the underclass underfoot. Leftist ideologies generally value more secular understandings of human nature, our flaws, and our vulnerabilities.
And if you really want to get into it, the fear of death and dying has been characterised by many left leaning philosophers as a vulnerability that has been exploited by institutions for thousands of years to oppress the people, & encourage us to embrace it as an inevitable end.
