My two pence on Avatara Purushas...
For starters, I’m no Gyani, as my bio says I’m pro common sense...
There are those questioning whether Lord Rama ate meat...
Two factions. One saying He didn’t another overwhelmingly saying He did...
Now assuming He didn’t...or assuming He did (I’ve personally read no literature confirming either)
What difference does it make?
Does it change your perspective?
And what is one even trying to prove?
Does your Bhakti revolve around an Avatar’s dietary preferences?
An Avatar is Swayam Bhagavan who descends on this earth in a form to save humanity!
And having being born on Bhooloka, they’re also born with a Horoscope, Grahas that are positioned for their destiny and are subject to the laws of Karma!
They are also subject to human needs, (if the Avatar is that of a human), and are subject to all the feelings a Human possesses! Hunger, love, angst, loss, desire, anger and so on!
They are Bhagavan doubtless but with all the aspects one would expect from a human being!
This obsession with perfection in our society is a curse!
A bigger curse when the aspect of Bhagavan is diluted to how many wives Sri Krishna had or what did Raama eat!
So a mortal born on earth, who himself holds vices wants to know the practices of an Avatara! Heights of ego!
Avatar after avatar incarnated on this earth as Gurus and Warriors to save humanity yuga after yuga.
Who here, is bereft of vice, desire or faults that one would want to question what an Avatara ate or how many times He married?
The only Jeet-Indriya (He who conquered His senses) I know, is Hanuman! And if a human on this earth or SM can vouch that He or She has conquered their senses my applause for you! 👏🏻👏🏻
I have not! I’ve enough vices to fill a room! And I know most haven’t conquered theirs either!
And this is not even about senses...it’s about diet 🤦🏻!
All I know is Lord Rama was MahaVishnu born in the Ikshvaku dynasty who practiced Kshatriya dharma, and delivered Humanity from evil! Who granted us His name which we forever chant as a Bijakshara mantra on our lips!
For me the discussion and “dogma” ends here!
There is a saying in Tamizh, "Nadhi moolam rishi moolam" (Scrutiny or Whereabouts/Origins) of River or a Rishi/Saint should not be encouraged! This should also include an Avatara Puruhsha. Else your Bhakti is just pointless!
The focus should ideally be on the lives they lived, the work they did and the sacrifices an Avatar had to undergo to repeatedly save Humanity!
Scrutiny to pointless notions strays one away from Bhakti...
And the very discussion, of who ate what is worthless chaff!
First (at least try to) win over your own Indriyas, before one questions an Avatar!
None of us here are perfect..
If you were, you won’t be on bhooloka asking which avatar ate what on SM!
You’d have been liberated from Samsara!
Reign in the ego, channel the Bhakti!
End!
