I& #39;ve been pondering UGA& #39;s QB situation, especially in light of @MummePoll post about the RPO vs play action splits between Bennett and Mathis against Arkansas (1/8)
I can see where you would think Bennett isn& #39;t built for keeping the ball, and you are right on one level. He is smaller than the typical SEC QB at 5& #39;11" and 190 lbs. That& #39;s the same as Richard LeCounte, but obviously a different body. (2/8)
Something that didn& #39;t occur to me until this week is Bennett& #39;s HS coach is Sean Pender, who played WR/RB at Valdosta State under Hal Mumme and OC Mike Leach.
He slung the ball all over the yard in HS. (3/8)

Having seen Bennett play in HS and being close friends with Pierce County& #39;s play by play guy, Pierce County did run a fair amount, too, but used the pass to set up the run.
Bennett threw for ~3700 yards his senior year. He also rushed for nearly 500 on about 7 att/g. (4/8)

Also, he& #39;s a legit 4.5 40 yard dash guy. We saw his burst on the two point conversion.
All this is to say if you want an RPO QB, Bennett can run that offense. His limitations are obvious, but he& #39;s got a super quick release and showed Saturday he can read defense well. (5/8)

He ran a pass to set up the run offense in HS and at Jones CC. The INTs at the CC worry me, but some of that can be chalked up to him trying to do too much. Only one other offensive player from that Jones team is in DI. (6/8)
He has better coaching and better players around him. That matters, especially for a guy with a known ceiling. That ceiling is higher because of the coaching and other players. (7/8)
