Silly Little Trivia: Jin's interpretive dance

In Korean body language, rubbing your palms together signifies apologizing and/or asking for forgiveness. Getting on both your knees before someone is considered demeaning and thus this would be considered "begging for forgiveness"

Poor Jimmy, he was so confused why Jin won with that minimalistic "dance" Hopefully my tweet above clarifies why; Jin's dance was objectively and equal parts hilarious and ridiculous from a Korean point of view and since the judges were 6 Korean men...

Silly Little Trivia: Jin's interpretive dance pt. 2

Dabbing saliva on your nose is an old (seriously old) Korean folk remedy for curing leg cramps. It's meant to distract u/ur nerves from the cramp w/ the cooling sensation as the saliva evaporates. Maybe also the smell?

It's like something your grandma would tell you if you told her your leg fell asleep. "Lick your finger and touch your nose, do that 3 times and the cramp will go away." NO GRANDMA IT WILL NOT AND NO JIN I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT ON SOME OTHER COUNTRY'S NATIONAL TELEVISION I-

You can literally see Jin going from "Am I really going to do this? Do I have to?" > Resigns himself to it and laughs at what even is his life anymore, the things he does > Gears himself up and starts to get into character > Lights! Camera! Action!

Side note, I love how Jin will go all-in and make the biggest fool out of himself if that's what he thinks the situation needs. You can't do that if you have low self esteem because you'd worry what others would think of you since your sense of self worth lies on their opinions

That, plus the way he's been shown to gently and politely but firmly stand his ground and not take bullshit if he feels is unfair/unjust just because they're on air/TV... *chef's kiss*
