This obviously doesn’t address the weird anti-Solskjaer cult that has infested twitter, but as a coach he has done everything he could have possibly done since taking the job. No disgracing themselves in the 19/20 Champions League, although Barca was a bit of a wake-up call.
Then had a moderately successful window which was supposed to be a rebuild. Lost his main forward without replacement and club wouldn’t buy Fernandes until they thought Pogba money was coming in. In his first full season he finished 3rd, whether fortunate or not it was the
Absolute best possible league position he could ask for, behind two of the three best teams in Europe. Had been playing attacking football, something the previous coaches hadn’t necessarily done. Genuine signs of progress, albeit gradual, and as grimly predictable as a
soggy Manchester summer, he’s had the rug pulled from underneath him. He couldn’t have done anymore to deserve to be backed, whether he’s a good enough technical coach long-term or not. Manchester United won’t win a major trophy as long as the Woodward cabal is there.
18/19* Champions League. No idea what year we’re in now anyway.
