Important reminder: Whether this particular story is real or not - the vast majority of women on OnlyFans never make any meaningful money! But they are at risk of their images being stolen and of being pushed to enter prostitution or pornography. Don't buy the lies. https://twitter.com/savannah_solo/status/1311356512506445827
I wanna be 100% clear: I do not support shaming women on OnlyFans or any other part of the porn industry no matter their reason of entry. But I will always speak up when its claimed that the industry will bring you stability and wealth. It is far more likely to bring you harm.
What sites like OnlyFans are mostly accomplishing is wealth for the mostly MEN - many of them pornographers and pimps - who actually own them and take their cut on every sale. OnlyFans is mostly paying for the mansions of pornographer-pimps like Tim Stokely đŸ‘‡đŸ»đŸ€ź
Sites like OnlyFans exist so that consumers can have porn tailored to their individual prefrences & fetishes and the illusion of owning a part of the woman. The requests made are not harmless. They are frequently demeaning, psychologically scarring, can even entail physical harm.
‘I have been asked to dress as a schoolgirl and pretend to masturbate myself’ says Eloise, who is a content creator on OnlyFans. ‘Once I was told to tie a rope around my neck and pretend to choke." What does this mean for suicide attempt & abuse survivors? https://spectator.us/nothing-empowering-sex-work-onlyfans/
Claudia discovered that a main ‘clients’ had made a pornographic meme of one of her topless photographs & posted it on a porn site. ‘He sent it to me, proud. I tried to complain to OF but never heard from them. I emailed them 5 times. In the end I gave up and deleted my account.’
‘I needed to get as many subscribers as possible so I could pay my rent, which means posting new images all day every day,’ says Claudia about OnlyFans, ‘and agreeing to more and more explicit stuff. In the end I felt exhausted and degraded and canceled my membership.’
OnlyFans can put its content creators in danger. Recently a four-terabyte dump of videos and images of women who use the site to share pornographic images was leaked. Rather than a hack, the leak seemed to be from 'fans' accessing media individually, then compiling it for free.
OnlyFans has a function called Strip for Tip, and during a live video the more money subscribers send the provider, the more clothes she is required to take off. It's nothing but digital stripping and while she is physically safe in the moment, she has no control over her image.
OnlyFans offers men to pay providers for a day, or however long, to behave as if they are a real date, and via messages and voice notes send instructions as to what he requires of his ‘girlfriend’. I know women who entered prostitution through doing paid erotic chatting online.
And then theres the physical stalking: Last month it was reported that a 21-year-old woman in Australia who posted explicit content on #OnlyFans was followed and harassed by a man who went on to leak her personal information online. Of course men ask to meet her IRL for "dates".
Apparently some "fans" are also experiencing being subscribed to paid content against their will. No pity for these men 😂 If we lived in a world with equal wealth distribution none of you ugly selfish predatory fucks would ever get anywhere near these women. Pardon my French
According to Forensic News if you sign up for #OnlyFans you don't actually have to prove youre 18+. Ah man what a surprise. Anyone who thought the porn industry is interested in the bare minimum of ethics not profit maximization when will you come down to earth to the rest of us?
#OnlyFans creator: “I am 19 and, even though I am legal, I still feel like the culture of young women being sexualized by older men is done in such a predatory way. It is not safe for young women to put themselves out there. There is a fine line between being sex-positive...
To sum up: Thank you to all the women on #OnlyFans calling out the exploitation inherent to the business model. Best wishes to all women trying to survive these tough times - and anyone who shames you for it can fuck off as can the pimps who run the show who are def not ur friend
And you can never ever tweet about #OnlyFans without immidietly being offered a "super good deal totally in your interest totally not trying to take your money" by some digital pimp or other. Doing this out of the goodness of your heart? Very hard to believe...
Yes there are women in various parts of the sex trade genuinely supporting each other and that's great! But how is any woman online supposed to discern if something is a genuine coop or if it's just a digital pimp trying to take his cut? Hard enough to know this stuff IRL.
