Hello, everyone. I'm Lilith, or more accurately, that is what I prefer to be called. I'm a lesbian. Simple as that. And I know I don't speak for the whole community in this thread. But please hear me out.
To start, I may not speak for the whole community, but it's important that you know you don't either. This is about a character from Danganronpa V3, Chabashira Tenko (茶柱 転子) Please try to be respectful when commenting.
A lot of discourse is about her sexuality, Some argue "Gay Coding" but I personally think that's a weak argument, but then again, I don't speak for the whole community.
"Gay Coding" makes me uneasy because it makes me feel like I have to act a certain way to be a lesbian. And while the intention was the opposite, it encourages gay stereotypes rather than destroy them.
It is basically assuming someones sexuality based on their actions, which is not okay at all. An example is a man painting his nails. Just because they enjoy doing such does not make them gay.
I don't have a sexuality that I head-canon Chabashira as, But I find it ridiculous that people are getting harassed because they don't see her as a certain sexuality.
Kazutaka Kodaka didn't give any of those likely characters a sexuality so the community would go crazy basically screaming "GAY!" That could be taken as Kodaka making fun of us almost and saying that we are wrong.
"It doesn't have to be explicitly stated!" While you are correct in some cases, this case isn't one. Danganronpa is a type of series where it has to be stated, especially with the plot twists in it.
Either way, coding is based solely up to interpretation. To be completely honest, I never thought she was "Gay Coded" Because it's up to interpretation.
This is not saying you cannot head-canon Chabashira as lesbian. It is saying that you should not claim it as canon and go after those who do not see it the same.
Please be respectful in the replies and try not to use any slurs. Any 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 hate comments will be deleted, if that is even possible on this app.
I will probably add more stuff to this thread later.

Also please do not use my comforts as a argument. It's very triggering to me, I've seen it happen to multiple people and it's just horrible.
I am not new to twitter itself, but I've never made an account before so I might not understand a lot of things. Please be kind.
