Honestly I don’t think Trump has enough of a relationship with the truth to lie about having COVID. He doesn’t say things because they’re true or untrue. He says what he says in order to WIN.
He says the biggest and the best numbers and the biggest and the best things because, to him, that’s winning. Whether those things are true or false is not relevant.
He lies all the time. But he doesn’t lie with the intent to deceive or mislead.

He lies in order to win.

He’s maxed out confidence and has nothing in tricks.
Trump doesn’t fake weakness to lure his opponent into range. Because to Trump - so divorced from reality that “true” and “false” have no meaning - that would be showing weakness. That would be losing. Trump never loses now to win big later. Trump wants to win now and always.
So I don’t think he’s lying about having COVID. Would a WINNER have COVID? No. Getting sick is for losers.

Trump would not lie about having COVID to gain an advantage. He’d lie about COVID iff having COVID *was* the advantage. He’d lie about it if having it was winning.
But having COVID isn’t a win. Not any way you spin it.

You and I can imagine how “lying about having COVID when you didn’t actually have it” might give someone an advantage. But trump doesn’t have enough of a relationship with reality in order to have an imagination at all.
And so I conclude that although Trump lies constantly and consistently about everything...

He’s not lying about having COVID.
