For all asking, I and my family, w all the others in the debate hall, were tested the morning of the debate, by the Cleveland Clinic, with the hospital grade test. Once we got the results, we were given wristbands, and could not go near the hall w/o showing them at checkpoints. 1
The protocols, including the seating in the hall, were rigorous and models for public health. Nearly all of us followed meticulously. But I am not sure what applied to the candidates and their entourages. The Clinic people, and the commission, were in an impossible situation. 2
Confronting the Trump entourage--telling them put on the masks or we will make you leave-- would have created a huge brouhaha, and thrown the debate itself into turmoil, and made it into a spectacle to be exploited politically. I don't think the Clinic or Commission had a choice.
