A lot of nonDharmics are making tweets about Karma in response to Trump’s covid test result and that’s problematic for MANY reasons. Now, I don’t give a shit about Trump’s well-being except that it might result in a President Pence which IMO is far scarier than a President Trump

so this thread is not about that at all. I don’t care about indivisuals who are probably child rapists. I reserve that right. It’s one thing to celebrate a dangerous person being ill, but it’s another to frame it as a sort of “divine punishment. To do so disrespects all the

people who have been harmed or who have died because of Covid, it smears all of them, including those who contracted Covid because they were on the front lines, working at hospitals, working to help people survive this illness. It is also fucked up to nonchalantly appropriate

religious beliefs. If Karma is real, and you’re not Dharmic, then why aren’t you? I don’t mean this in a missionary type of way, I am not trying to convert you, it is just really harmful if you are from a religious community that has colonized and abused Dharmics (this applies

to Christians and Muslims), feel you have the authority to appropriate (and, frankly, misuse) a religious belief. Again, if you think Karma is real you should give Dharmic religions the respect you give Abrahamic religions, so why are you not Dharmic? But that’s not the only

problem. Who the fuck are we — the vast majority of us — to claim that this is Karma? Most of the human population does not have the spiritual knowledge to say so, and when coming from “one life to live” communities, it demonstrates a gross misunderstanding of Karma. Karma is

not just a reaction to our actions in this life, it is also a reaction to our actions and intents from all our past lives. the lives in which we were birds, trees, goats etc etc (so it wouldn’t be wrong to say “this could be good person’s Karma, it would be rude to say that tho).

I know that those of you making these Karma tweets are not bigots, but these tweets are bigoted. If you’re not Dharmic, not studying Dharmic spirituality/religions/practices please don’t make tweets like this. Please don’t make comments like this. Thank you .
