Riseman Sawyer - A Thread

Who is Riseman Sawyer?
He is the protagonist of the manga “Marry Grave,” both a huge inspiration and personal classic to me. Sawyer is an Undead who is on the quest to revive his wife using the Deadman’s Recipe, something she had also done to revive Sawyer.

Why is this thread being made?
Because I’d like to give the manga and Sawyer some exposure as one of my favorites. Plus he has a tidy arsenal of abilities which would be fun to pit against similar characters.

Now, where to begin.
First of all:
What is an Undead in Marry Grave?

Undeads are immortal beings created by the Deadman’s Recipe. Impervious to harm with their insane regeneration, the only weakness of the Undead is their links.

As a subcategory of his regeneration, Sawyer can also freely use his limbs even after they’ve been detached. http://bit.ly/2EQy7sD 

A seemingly unique ability to Sawyer (as other Undeads haven’t been noted to do this) is using his body’s regeneration to restore broken spell fragments and return them to their prime (as shown against the Jabberwock) http://bit.ly/3jmlk0h 

However, regeneration isn’t his only gimmick, as Sawyer has an equally tough body to boot. These two in hand make him a beast to defeat in battle. http://bit.ly/36rDcDk 

Alongside his bodily feats, Sawyer wields a plethora of spells through Mana Extraction. His most common attack (due to the abundance of salamander tails) being Salamander’s Fire. http://bit.ly/30rLeYP 

Sawyer has two upgraded versions of this attack:
Volcanic Blaze which is fueled with an Elder Dragon’s bones

And the equally powerful Dark Salamander, a technique used by Rosalie as well. However, unlike his wife who could use it alone, Sawyer needs help.

Using a technique known as Magic Fusion, Sawyer can not only use Dark Salamander with his great-grandaughter, Lyse, he can also perform an extremely powerful spell known as Draconic Storm with the aid of his best friend Dante. http://bit.ly/2SeX5VQ 

Back to his main arsenal of spells, each have their own uses and have proven to be practical outside of combat uses.

While he might not be impressive when it comes to my usual range of characters, I never thought he needed to be. Marry Grave has remained a favorite of mine due to its fantastic settings and power system, just imagining the possibilities of its world are endless.

Which is why I consider it a shame it got axed so early in its lifespan. It’s not a very long story, only consisting of 52 chapters and a rushed ending, but I suggest you read it if you want a fun time regardless.

My true hope is that this thread has enticed Sawyer enough for you to give Marry Grave a read.
