Joe Biden needs to be quarantined too.

He and Trump were both maskless at the debate.
I’m distressed by how many people still believe social distancing within an interior space is adequate protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.

It is NOT.

The primary route of infection is inhalation of droplets and AEROSOLIZED PARTICLES. https://twitter.com/leahmcelrath/status/1310982597548421124">https://twitter.com/leahmcelr...
Dr. Fauci himself recently spoke about how we’ve been “getting it wrong” and that aerosolized particles play a significant role in the transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19:
Good. Erring on the side of caution is the right move by the Biden team. https://twitter.com/jenniferjjacobs/status/1311864846259040256">https://twitter.com/jenniferj...
Trump reports he and Melania have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, which means he was almost certainly spewing aerosolized infectious particles into the air while screaming during the debate on Tuesday. https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1311892190680014849">https://twitter.com/realdonal...
I’ve received comments to the effect of “or he could just get tested.”

For #SARS_CoV_2, the incubation period between exposure and a positive test result can be anywhere from two days to over two weeks.

A negative test today doesn’t rule out infection. https://twitter.com/ashishkjha/status/1311989990025461763">https://twitter.com/ashishkjh...
Biden and those who accompanied him to the debate will be tested.

Again though: testing now is not sufficient. He and those around him should ideally isolate and be monitored for symptoms and tested regularly until the incubation period has passed. https://twitter.com/jesserodriguez/status/1312012945577172995">https://twitter.com/jesserodr...
The Trump administration did NOT reach out to Joe Biden and his team to notify them of possible danger.

Unconscionable. https://twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1312016397942378501">https://twitter.com/jaketappe...
Excellent news.

However, the incubation period can be anywhere from two days to over two weeks.

Ideally, he should be quarantining.

At a minimum, he should be regularly monitored for symptom presentation and tested for the next two weeks at least. https://twitter.com/joebiden/status/1312065485400346625">https://twitter.com/joebiden/...
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but:

A single negative test result does not rule out exposure or infection.

The COVID-19 virus has an incubation period of anywhere from two days to over two weeks.

That’s why quarantines after possible or confirmed exposure exist.
Biden is choosing not to quarantine, for understandable reasons.

I have no doubt he’s doing so fully advised on the risks, is being medically monitored, and will continue to be tested throughout the incubation period.

I will pray for his well-being and that of those around him.
Another great piece by @edyong209, in which he makes the same points I’ve made in this thread. https://twitter.com/edyong209/status/1312118916471160832">https://twitter.com/edyong209...
