CW: Are you willing, tonight, to condemn white supremacists and militia groups -
DJT: Sure
CW: - and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities -
DJT: Sure
CW: - as we saw in Kenosha and as we've seen in Portland? 1/12
DJT: Sure I'm willing to do that.
CW: Are you prepared to specifically -
JB: So do it
DJT: I would say -
CW: Go ahead, sir. (to Trump)
DJT: I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not from the right wing.
CW: So, what are you saying - 2/12
DJT: I'm willing to do anything, I want to see peace.
CW: Well, then do it, sir.
JB: Do it, say it.
DJT: You wanna call them - what do you want to call them? Give me a name.
CW: White supremacists and right-wing militias.
JB: White supremacists. Proud Boys. 3/12
DJT: Proud boys? Stand back and stand by - but I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what, somebody's got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing - 4/12
JB: His own FBI Director -
DJT: - problem this is a left -
JB: - said the -
DJT: This is a left-wing problem.
JB: - threat comes from white supremacists -
CW: I've gotta - go ahead, sir (to Biden).
JB: Antifa's an idea not an organization -
DJT: Oh, you gotta be kidding. 5/12
JB: - not militia. That's what his FBI -
DJT: Okay
JB: - his FBI -
DJT: It's an idea?
JB: - Director said.
CW: Gentlemen, we're gonna -
DJT: Well then, you know what? He's wrong.
CW: No, no we're done, sir.
JB: Everybody -
CW: - We're moving on to the next -
6/12
DJT: When a bat hits you over the head, that's not an idea.
JB: - Everybody in your administration [who] tells you the truth is - has a bad idea.
DJT: Can I tell you what?
JB: You have no ideas -
DJT: Antifa - Antifa is a dangerous group.
CW: All right, gentlemen -
7/12
CW: We're now moving on to the Trump -
DJT: - and you ought to be careful with them -
CW: - and Biden records.
DJT: - they'll overthrow you.
8/12
According to the debate rules, CW asks a question and gives 2 minutes for the answer.

CW moved on after only 1 minute, during which he and Biden both interrupted the president over a dozen times, including once to tell Biden to "go ahead" during Trump's time. 9/12
Like most of the debate, this was a chaotic exchange. But at no point did Trump refuse to condemn white supremacists, nor has he ever. He has disavowed and publicly condemned white supremacists and the KKK many times. 10/12
As for Trump;s phrase "stand back... and stand by," most logically, Trump meant to say "stand down," which is what Wallace asked the president if he would say to right-wing counter protester groups in his question. It is not some sinister coded phrase. 11/12
Through the interruptions from both the moderator and his opponent, Trump was clearly saying: "Sure, I'll condemn white supremacists and tell militia groups to stand down, but almost all the violence I see is from Antifa and the left." And he's right. 12/12
