i'll clear something up again, since i haven't said it in a hot second:

i am a grown adult. i work a very busy, VERY demanding job. i barely have time for social media. i have NO TIME for people who believe in censorship of any kind, even for the things you think are "gross".
i've spent my life being told that i'm going to hell for reading the wrong books, starting with my conservative family physically trying to rip Twilight from my hands before it was a national phenomenon because it had "the apple of sin" on the cover. oh, and for being queer.
i wasn't allowed to read Junie B Jones. I couldn't watch a LOT of television shows. in theory, i should be the perfect cishet Catholic, right?

wrong. I'm no less queer. I'm no less interested in dark and "problematic" media. and i got to explore those things through fandom.
you can't stomp out media you don't like. it will always exist. because people like me will always be around to create it. you can strikethrough/boldthrough, but my works will survive even an AO3 crash. you can burn my books, but my brain is still mine.
it's the human condition to explore weird things in fiction, where it's safe and harmless to do so. i tag all my works extensively, even though i don't have to, to make it even safer for those who wish to avoid certain topics.
for those of you who enjoy my works but can't understand how i sympathize with anti-censorship... did you even read my works? every single thing i've written has something forbidden, starting and ending with LGBT characters and relationships. all of that is subject to censorship.
do y'all realize that people still get arrested and killed all over the globe every day for being LGBTQIA? this purity bullshit is such a fucking first world problem that it's baffling. do you know how lucky you are to have freedom of speech? and you want to piss it away?
anyway, i am pro-ship, 🌈🍖, but more importantly than that, i am anti-censorship.

i am not here to fight with you, because there's literally nothing you can say to change my mind.

if i see you express anti sentiments or sympathize/interact with fanpol, i block on sight.
i probably could have phrased this tweet a bit better, because it comes across like "twilight is evil and queer" which would have made twilight so much more interesting tbh. instead i'm going to hell for reading twilight AND being queer. https://twitter.com/maydaymaydei/status/1311838211048644608?s=20
i will also note that i've forcibly re-educated my family in the matters of queerness and associated hellgoing. they're much more educated now, though it took MANY YEARS of hard conversations, hard work, and complete willingness to cut them out to have those conversations.
look, James Madison ( & Alexander Hamilton et al) didn't write the Bill of Rights, and Lin Manuel Miranda didn't write a whole musical about all that just for y'all to say free speech is illegal, actually /joke but srs

TLDR CENSORSHIP IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS A BAD THING
(inb4 "THAT'S NOT WHAT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS—" anyone advocating legal action / that people deserve the electric chair / to go to jail for writing material they don't like or have deemed morally reprehensible is exactly what the first amendment is there to protect)
