Happy #October! To celebrate my favorite month, every day I'll be tweeting my favorite #Hallowreads, from moldering classics to almost hot-off-the-press novels, and everything in between! Can I come up with 31? Will I forget after the first 3 days? Find out!
Today’s #Hallowreads is the book I wrote my college thesis on. It never gets old no matter how many crappy film adaptations they make of it. And it just turned 200! #FRANKENSTEIN!
Today’s #Hallowreads is @kennethoppel’s page-turning, spine-tingling, absolutely incredible This Dark Endeavor, a Frankenstein prequel. Here’s me doing my best Victor Frankenstein.
Today’s #Hallowreads is Mackenzi Lee’s steampunk retelling of Frankenstein. Such an awesome idea, IDK why I didn’t think of it.
Today’s #Hallowreads is Washington Irving’s classic “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” I’m such a fan I’ve made 2 pilgrimages to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in New York. @SHCemetery @HHValley
Today’s #Hallowreads is the spooky @agathachristie classic: And Then There Were None. I also love the BBC miniseries adaptation.
Today’s #Hallowreads is @neilhimself’s ghostly adventure The Graveyard Book. Poignant, fun, and just slightly spooky.
Today’s #Hallowreads is Shakespeare’s spookiest play, even rumored to be cursed: Macbeth! You can catch @TSMGOnlineLive’s all-female performance of it today:
#Hallowreads for today is @Willothewords’ Jackaby—an otherworldly mystery featuring a string of murders, a banshee, and an eccentric detective. Here I am doing a very casual cosplay as Jenny the ghost.
#Hallowreads Day 9: Undead warriors, 3 witches, and of course, a black cauldron make Lloyd Alexander’s The Black Cauldron a perfect Halloween read! (Just don’t ask me how many times I’ve read it.) #Prydain
Today’s #Hallowreads is a creature feature: John Gardner’s breathtaking Grendel.
#Hallowreads day 11: the ultimate Halloween read—Bram Stoker’s Dracula!
Today’s #Hallowreads is this creepy as heck poem by JRR #Tolkien, found in The Tolkien Reader (illustrated by Pauline Baynes).
#Hallowreads Day 13: “The Shivers” from Days With Frog & Toad. Because Frog & Toad are quite literally the best.
#Hallowreads Day 14: Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Actually a very quick read, as it’s only about 50 pages long.
Today’s #Hallowreads is one of my favorite musicals—also a creepy and thrilling book. @PhantomOpera @PhantomBway
So apparently, while I did tweet the last few #Hallowreads, I forgot to add them to this thread. Anyway #Hallowreads Day 19: “It is an ancient mariner, and he stoppeth one of three....” Here’s one of my copies of this ghostly poem. I’ll share the other tomorrow.
