Nobody is exempt from difficult decisions!

Such choices are a part of life, and they can be very challenging for us

If you are struggling with a difficult decision at the moment, I would like to help you make a clear decision, which you will not regret in retrospect

[ THREAD ]
Three leading causes make it difficult for us to make clear decisions:

1. The fear of remorse & regret

2. The fear of change

3. The fear of loss

Which of these three causes apply to you and your current situation or decision?
Some methods and techniques can help you make the right decisions more easily and quickly

I want to share three of these methods and techniques with you which helped me in the past
∙ The four questions technique ∙

The following four 'what' questions help us to analyze the background of our hesitation in more detail

Ask yourself:
What is holding me back?

In this first step, write down all the currently preventing you from making a clear decision

In this way, you will see precisely what and how many reasons there are against a decision
What am I afraid of?

You have to face your fears to overcome them

This also applies to the process of your decision-making
What is the worst that could happen?

With this question, it is crucial to be aware of the worst-case scenario of your possible decision(s)

That will help you overcome the fear of fear, which can often seem much stronger than the decision itself
What would happen if I didn't do anything?

Finally, try to imagine and feel what would happen if you didn't decide in this situation

This may open up new opportunities and perspectives for you, OR you will be motivated to act at the moment
∙ The O-R-D-E-R technique ∙

Here each letter stands for a step that you have to take to make the right decision
O - Options

Become clear about all of your options concerning your decision
R - Risks and Benefits

Become aware of the possible risks and benefits of your potential decision(s), which are intended to serve as a kind of mental pros and cons list
D - Decision

Make a clear decision - particularly, commit yourself internally and don't try to revise it right away
E - Execution

Make the decision NOW too

Often the problem is not the action itself, but the eternal procrastination and weighing the “perfect” decision
R - Review

Now try again to get an overview of the entire decision-making process

This will give you even more security, clarity, and, in particular, positive confirmation so that you can decide even faster and easier next time
∙ The 10-10-10 Method ∙

The 10-10-10 Method, developed by Suzy Welch, helps become aware of the impact our decisions could have over three future periods
What impact will my decision have in 10 minutes?

The point here is to determine what immediate consequences our decision could have

Our gut feeling plays a decisive role in this question, whether it is more of a short-term effect or could have longer-term consequences?
What impact will my decision have in 10 months?

This period should show you what effects your decision could have in the medium term

This can be particularly important when the decision involves more extensive planning and problem-solving
What impact will my decision have in 10 years?

It is essential to reflect on what is important to us in our life in the long term and from which we will benefit

Ask yourself: Do these decisions have a far-reaching impact on my future life, and if so, how does it feel to me?
Some words at the end

Do not be afraid of the wrong decisions

Weigh your decision as best as possible, act according to your best potential, and you will have nothing to regret

Have trust and believe in yourself

Use your potential!
