A lot of folks are asking how I& #39;ve lost so much weight, so I figured I& #39;d give a basic rundown of what I did.
But first I have to preface this by saying don& #39;t just take advice from randos on the Internet about serious weight loss and personal health. https://twitter.com/JasonKirell/status/1311749536017244160?s=19">https://twitter.com/JasonKire...

Please, for the love of God, consult your doctor if you plan on losing anything more than a few pounds.
And don& #39;t do fad diets you found on Facebook. Actually, just don& #39;t take any advice from anyone on Facebook.
Actually...just delete Facebook.
Having said that...

...what *I* did was take my weight loss in stages.
I started out in mid-to-late January with a three stage plan.
Stage 1: Change my eating habits - both what I ate and how I ate.
Out: Soda, juice, alcohol. Basically any empty calories you could get from liquids.

You& #39;d be amazed how many calories you get from the stuff you drink every day.
If you have, say, two cups of coffee with sugar and cream in the morning, a bottle of soda or an energy drink in the afternoon, and then maybe a beer or two in the evening...that& #39;s 700-1000 calories.

If you& #39;re a sedentary person, which I was back then, that& #39;s basically all the extra calories you need to push you over what your body can naturally burn each day, assuming the food you ate was around 2000 calories a day, as recommended for the average person.
So once I cut out sugar from what I was drinking I started to instantly lose weight.
I did that while also cutting out the obvious snacky stuff like ice cream and cookies and candy, etc.
After a few months of only dieting and cutting out sugary drinks I lost about 40lbs.

Then I started changing up the types of meals I had bc your body adjusts to your new caloric intake eventually.
So out was fried chicken and in was grilled chicken.
Out was waffles and in was scrambled eggs.
You get the idea. Just eating healthier shit.

The reason I cut out stuff at different times is bc I didn& #39;t want to make dieting a punishment. I didn& #39;t want to go from all the foods I enjoy to bland stuff I didn& #39;t overnight.
I enjoy food. If I cut out everything I enjoyed all at once I would have been miserable.

And it& #39;s hard to accomplish any goal of you wake up every day miserable.
The fact that I could still eat stuff I liked and lose weight kept me happy and motivated, so when the time came to switch the food I ate I looked forward to it instead of dreading it.

Dieting and long-term weight loss is just as much a mental change as a physical one, folks.
So once I changed up the food I did that for a few months and lost another 40lbs or so.
Which brought me to late June, early July.
That& #39;s when stage 3 started.
Exercise.

Weight loss, on a certain level, is fairly simple. You burn more calories than you take in.
But when your body adjusts to your now-lesser caloric intake, you& #39;re not going to see the weight loss you did when you first started.
So I had to up the burning calories part.

I was in the army for 4 years and never once did I ever enjoy running. I didn& #39;t like it. I wasn& #39;t good at it. My body wasn& #39;t built for it.
And that was when I was in shape.
I knew now I couldn& #39;t run, or even jog.
But I sure as shit could walk. So that& #39;s what I did. I walked.
And that was when I was in shape.
I knew now I couldn& #39;t run, or even jog.
But I sure as shit could walk. So that& #39;s what I did. I walked.
I started out slow, just two laps around my a small section of my neighborhood, maybe an hour& #39;s worth of walking. Three miles maybe.
I did thst for the first two weeks, just to get my body used to being up and moving around again.

When I say I was sedentary I meant it.
A veal calf got more exercise than I did.
A veal calf got more exercise than I did.
But after those two weeks I started doing three laps around the neighborhood each day.
I did that for two weeks and then added a fourth lap.
Then I started walking four laps in the morning and two laps in the afternoon.
Then three laps in the afternoon.
I did that for two weeks and then added a fourth lap.
Then I started walking four laps in the morning and two laps in the afternoon.
Then three laps in the afternoon.
And that is about where my body reached its limit. For some reason after two hours of walking my feet, hips and shoulder start to bark at me and I listen to it and head home.
Your body will tell you how much it can take. Listen to it.
Your body will tell you how much it can take. Listen to it.
Now, I& #39;m still a 42 year old guy who& #39;s got a 90% disability rating for various things and I& #39;m not going to tell you I feel great when I get home.
I have to take long hot showers and lay down for literally hours to be able to do my afternoon walk.

So, again, that& #39;s why I say don& #39;t take advice from rando people on the Internet.
I don& #39;t work, so I literally have all day to walk and rest and walk again.
I& #39;m sure very few people are in a situation where they can copy this plan. Folks gotta work, take care of kids, etc.

I& #39;m fortunate I have the time to dedicate to doing one thing and going at it 110%.
Don& #39;t expect to lose 118lbs in 8 months like I did.
That& #39;s not realistic for anybody but people in my situation or people who& #39;ve worked up a plan with a physician or personal trainer.

But you guys asked what I did and that& #39;s basically it.
1. Cut out calories from drinks.
2. Eat healthier meals.
3. Exercise at a pace comfortable for you and your body.

Every person is different and there& #39;s no one way to lose weight. If there was there wouldn& #39;t be a 1001 fad diets out there.
Also, the reason I started dieting in the first place was because I wasn& #39;t happy with my lifestyle in addition to how I looked.
I wasn& #39;t happy.

I wasn& #39;t happy.
If you& #39;re not classicly thin, but you are happy with your life and happy with how you look...THAT IS AWESOME.
Continue being happy and don& #39;t let anyone tell you that you *need* to be a certain weight or look a certain way.
You& #39;re beautiful as long as you feel beautiful.

And your opinion is the only one that really matters.
