Do me a favor and watch this interview of a Texas woman explaining why she doesn’t want affordable housing in her neighborhood. Then, continue on this thread because listening to this reminded me of a recent “Meet the Candidates” event in Rossmoor. - https://twitter.com/_almaqah/status/1311516809582063616
Rossmoor is a planned community next to Los Alamitos & Seal Beach, on the northern Orange County/Los Angeles border. Though not a part of Los Alamitos, many services are under the same umbrella like schools.

So, I watched this town hall the other day and was honestly shocked-
Candidate Dr Jeff Barke made dog whistle points targeted at women like the Texas woman interviewed.

1. No inter-district transfers. All one school district, but we don’t want kids that don’t live in our neighborhoods in our schools.

2. Low income/multifamily/dense housing-
As disgusted as I am to hear people admit that they openly don’t want “a different class” in their neighborhoods, we need to also pay attention to the leadership who are targeting these individuals and pandering to their votes.

Diversity should be embraced, not feared.
“Rossmoor way of life” is exactly what the Texas woman, and those with similar views, are wanting to hear from their white elected official.
