firstly, this movie is digusting. it is full of racism and xenophobia. the main character is a stupid uneducated qazaq who travels to us and and behaves as a savage. you can read plot here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borat  and it really is disgusting.

kazakhstan is 9th largest country in the world. real people live here. it is REAL. and here comes the problem. if they didn't use a real country, it would be just another stupid movie.
the national flag and emblem were used in the film.

one may say that people understand that it is a misintrepretation and misrepresentation. but kazakhstan is being associated with borat constantly. for example, on a world championship in 2012, they played WRONG ANTHEM from borat on an official awarding ceremony.

news reporter saying "sounds like something right out of borat" shows that they didn't even consider this offensive.

in kazakhstan, borat is prohibitted. most of us never watched it. but still foreigners keep asking us stupid questions like "do you really drink horse urine?" we hate that our whole perception all over the world is based on a misleading film made by white man who knows nothing

about our culture. i won't even get started about extremely stupid sexist jokes. it is not okay that americans and british made a movie that makes fun of a whole country and call that a harmless humor. we dont look or behave like this.

i hope this helped you understand that this movie is super problematic. we want support. we are not a joke.

they also made fake twiiter account of qazaq government as pr move. it already has over 60k followers.

there are no qazaqs in the film. it is made by white man. he got golden globe for it. it was even nominated for oscars.

this is not even cultural appropriation, this is staright up humiliation.
