. @OCFLMayor says the Disney layoffs will accentuate the need for assistance
Demings says with $187.2 million of CARES Act funding spent there's still some $56 million to be spent before December 30th
Demings: The Phase 3 announcement puts business owners in a "precarious situation".

"Just because you can open at full capacity, doesn't mean it is safe to do so."
Demings says the local face mask order is still in effect and there's a 95% compliance rate
Alvina Chu, epidemiology program manager from the department of health says 27 deaths have been reported in Orange County since Monday.
Actual dates of those deaths range from July to present day
Alvina Chu talks about 'super spreader' events-- such as a party where 13 families gathered... but one person was sick
Health dept. is also focused on trying to make sure people get vaccinated for flu.
Also- there's an uptick in mosquito borne illness as it's been rainy lately
Donald Myers- chief judge with the 9th judicial circuit says the courts are transitioning back to jury trials: "we are very excited to have the chance to resume jury trials."

Summonses for jurors are being mailed out this week for reporting to court late October
On evictions:

"Eviction filings for the 9th Judicial Circuit are down pretty dramatically"
Myers says normally they deal with about 1,100 a month but they are around 650 a month at the moment.
That's a 35-40% reduction

"I'm very encouraged by the eviction diversion program and the work that's being done by the county. It is a win win for landlords and tenants," says Myers
Note- this is still a lot of eviction filings, revealing the limits of eviction protection / moratoriums. 650 a month is a lot of people out of a home in the middle of a devastating recession.
Interesting details on how to hold a trial in person, safely from Judge Myers:

He says they can seat 25 -30 jurors, socially distanced, "wearing special masks that allow the lawyers and the clients to be able to see the facial expressions on jurors as they're asked questions"
Myers says they don't anticipate trying a high profile case for some time -- because of space restrictions. Says they don't have space for the jurors required for a capital murder case, for example.
. @OCFLMayor now on the impact of the Disney layoffs- reiterates they are going to reallocate some funds specifically to help families affected by these layoffs- will make that announcement Monday.
Demings says he's hoping for a vaccine soon, and additional federal funding.
"We're in this for the long haul" -- it's been 7 months so far, may be another 7 months before things really start to turn around
Demings says the call from Disney about the layoffs was 'sobering', given that it's the largest single site employer in North America
