1. C19 is a novel virus (we could say that about all viruses.. they are all a new strain)
2. C19 is very deadly (C19's lethality is similar to that of the flu: less deadly for children than the flu & slightly more deadly than the flu for the above 75)

3. you can't become immune after infection (You actually build up immunity and if you can't, how would the vaccine work?)
4. the virus mutates (all viruses actually do)
5. you might not show symptoms but still infect others (asymptomatic infection is very rare)

6. C19 leads to terrible long-term conditions (the flu also is a serious disease and it can lead to long-term conditions)
7. C19 stays on surfaces for days (the studies were conducted in the lab and used v. high quantities of the virus- unrealistic conditions)

8. anyone with comorbidity will die (the median age of death is 80 years old)
9. your options are either lockdown or let it rip through the population (actually there is a third option, you could protect the vulnerable and let the young live normally)

10. the only solution is to bunker down until the vaccine comes out (actually, the young could live as normal to achieve herd immunity then the old could come out)
11. Masks work (but there is no conclusive evidence that they do)

12. Social distancing works (no body has studied this. It is practically impossible to implement)

If you are told all of these lies, how would you not be terrified?
